Knowing how to read these measurements clears up doubts and lets you compare a new model with glasses you already wear and find comfortable.
Frame measurements
Frame size is usually defined by the lens width and the bridge width. From there, the temple length and the total front width help you fine-tune the fit and the overall look of the glasses.
Bridge width
The distance between both lenses, key for how the frame rests on your nose.
Temple length
Measured from the hinge to the tip of the temple.
Frame front width and height
These help you judge the coverage and overall visual proportion of the frame.
Find your size using your current glasses
The most reliable way to get it right is to compare these measurements with a pair of glasses that already fit you well. On most frames you'll find the numbers printed on the inside of the temple.
You'll usually see three numbers, like 50 □ 19 135. They correspond to the lens width, the bridge width and the temple length. Sometimes a fourth number appears, showing the lens height.
